Police Hunt ‘Downtown BankRobber’

CONCORD, Calif. - (05/15/06) – A man responsible for at leasta dozen area bank robberies since December 2004–includingheists at Concord Diablo FCU and California Pacific CU–isbeing hunted by local police and the FBI. The bandit has beendubbed the Downtown Bank Robber because most of the robberiesoccurred in the heart of Concord. The Downtown robber is believedto be responsible for last Monday’s hold-up at Tri CountyBank, just hours after an attempted robbery at a Wells Fargobranch. Police have numerous surveillance photos of the suspect. Noone has reported seeing him with a weapon.
