Stadium To be Named For Eastern Financial After $500K Donation

Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union has donated $500,000 toward construction of a new stadium here at Everglades High School. The stadium, which is also being funded with $150,000 each from the city of Miramar and the local school board, will be named after the credit union. Under the new policy, private entities may secure naming rights of a stadium, auditorium or other buildings if they underwrite more than 50% of the construction costs.

"Everglades High is right in our backyard, where many of our employees and members live," said EFFCU VP-Marketing Gary Lanier said. "It made a lot of sense for us to get involved in a project that not only the school, but the entire community will be able to enjoy."

The multi-purpose stadium will be used primarily for high school football games, but will also be open to regional and state sporting events, it The stadium will be built around an existing track and field and seat approximately 3,500 people.
