State CU Adds Identity TheftService

COLUMBIA, S.C. - (08/05/05) -- State CU said it has implemented thecomprehensive identity theft prevention and resolution serviceoffered by Identity Theft 911. Top credit union executives andofficials with Identity Theft 91 as well as representatives of lawenforcement and consumer affairs professionals were meetingThursday night with members to discuss the crisis over the spreadof identity theft. The service will provide credit union memberswith a personal advocate to help resolve identity thefts;systematic notification of agencies, businesses and institutions ofa theft; a file creation for insurance and police records; creditreports from the three credit bureaus; one year of creditmonitoring and fraud monitoring; a year of follow-up alerts, phonecalls and status checks to avoid recurrence.
