SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - (01/12/05) -- City leaders and businessrepresentatives will join officials of Santa Barbara County FCUThursday to unveil the credit union's solar electric system, thestate's first financial institution to power its electricity needsfrom the sun. The 38 kilowatt system will generate about 60% of thecredit union's electricity needs, and will also serve as areal-life advertisement for the credit union's new "Solar PowerLoan," to finance members' own solar energy projects. Rates on thenew loans of up to $15,000, introduced in October, go as low as4.25%, depending on a member's credit.
