'Switch-A-Room Makeover' Sponsored By CU

The Steinbucks, Harry and his wife Patti, are renovating her sister's master bedroom, at the same time the sister and her husband, Kathie and John Englert, are re-doing the Steinbuck's bedroom -- all at the behest and expense of their credit union, BrightStar CU.

The two couples, who live across the street from each other, were working feverishly over two days as part of the $300-million credit union's "Switch-A-Room Makeover Contest," patterned after the popular TV show, "Trading Spaces."

The couples were given two days to complete the home improvements-totaling about $15,000. The two couples, all "Trading Spaces" fans, began in each other's homes-priming, painting, molding and moving. The families received the donated advice of local designer Craig Konhauzer, who has completed almost 1,500 homes.

The two couples were selected from 30 applicants in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. The Steinbucks and Englerts were chosen because they live close together and because their homes needed the most work, according to the credit union, known until this year as Broward Schools CU.
