Tap Your Card To Drink ACoke

PURCHASE, N.Y. - (06/28/06) – Thirsty consumers will have anew way to pay for that ice-cold can of Coke, thanks to a cashlesssolution being introduced by MasterCard at the vending machine. Thecards company announced Tuesday it is teaming with the PhiladelphiaCoca-Cola Bottling Co. and USA Technologies to install cashlesstechnology allowing customers to buy a Coke at 1,000 vendingmachines. The landmark roll-out follows successful trials of USATechnologies’ e-Port by cashless transaction solution invending machines in New York and Atlanta. USA Technologies’Generation Six e-Port radio frequency technology was developedspecifically to accept MasterCard PayPass and other forms ofcontactless payments. Consumers will tap their cards to the Cokemachine’s e-Port terminal and the device will charge or debittheir credit union or bank account. The terminals will also accepttraditional magnetic stripe and credit and debit cards.
