White Paper On Tech Security

MADISON, Wis.-The CUNA Technology Council has released a white paper, "Technology Security: Mitigating Current Threats and Emerging Challenges." Based on input from six IT leaders and five experts from security firms, the white paper offers steps to improve security, including restricting Internet access to employees based on a case-by-case review; providing ongoing training for employees on security policies, risky behavior and social engineering; and taking an enterprise-wide approach to security with measures such as naming a designated security officer. Drive-Thru Video Tellers Deployed

KINGSTON, N.Y.-The $730-million Mid-Hudson Valley FCU is offering video tellers at its drive through. uGenius Technology has implemented the round-the-clock teller services via video tellers at more than a half-dozen branches. Tellers assist members from a central location in Mid-Hudson Valley's headquarters.

Workers' CU Expands Mobile

FITCHBURG, Mass.-Workers' Credit Union added a service to allow members to open accounts via Internet-enabled smart phones. "With this new service, a Web-enabled smart phone, in essence, has become a mobile branch for our members," said Sue Franklin, online marketing manager. Within a few months, WCU said it will offer the service via iPhone.

NEFCUmobile For Android Released

WESTBURY, N.Y.-NEFCU has released NEFCUmobile for Android as part of its free mobile banking solution. "We are very proud that NEFCU was the first credit union on Long Island to offer a 'triple play' mobile banking solution and are excited to add the Android app as one of our many options," said Valerie Garguilo, VP-marketing and community relations. NEFCU also offers banking via mobile Web, text messaging and downloadable apps.

Drive-Thru ATMs Are Deployed

SANTA ROSA, Calif.-Redwood CU is deploying 30 NCR SelfServ ATMs, 29 of which feature NCR's Scalable Deposit Module, a new technology that allows consumers to deposit cash and checks simultaneously in any orientation through a single slot.
