Texas CUs Prep Teachers For Literacy Pilot Program

Teachers from 25 school districts and charter schools from around Texas attended an all-day financial education workshop to prepare for a financial literacy pilot program to begin in the fall.

The workshop, conducted by the Texas Credit Union Foundation, the Texas Education Agency, State Securities Board and Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner, offered an opportunity for teachers to both learn the instructional materials and prepare for the pilot program.

The pilot program will test the Financial Literacy 2010-known as FL2010-and Money Smart curricula against the requirements of Senate Bill 851 by Sen. Shapleigh, requiring the pilot program on financial literacy.
