To Comply With New Law, ACUL Makes Changes

Saying it was seeking to comply with the letter and spirit of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Alabama league's board has made a number of changes to procedures.

"Sarbanes-Oxley raised the bar. Though we have complete confidence in our management, the board thought it was important to take a look at ourselves and how we as a board address our responsibilities," said League Chairman Dale Dalbey. "The board implemented several audit committee changes and has assigned numerous additional proposals to committees. The committees will bring their recommendations to the board at its next meeting in early November."

Dalbey said the board has tightened up policy language regarding audit expectations and procedures and is now addressing confidentiality, conflict of interest and corporate code of ethics issues.
