In another sign of growing credit union influence, U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow met with credit union officials at two Ohio locations last week for the NCUA Chairman's Forum on Credit Unions.
Snow joined Ohio Congressman Michael Oxley, chairman of the important House Financial Services Committee, and NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson during two sessions in Oxley's district last Friday, in Mansfield and Lima, Ohio.
The officials were expected to discuss Treasury initiatives of interest to credit unions, including those on financial literacy, identity theft, and health savings accounts, among other things.
