Tracking Device Leads To StolenATM

LOOMIS, Calif. - (07/07/06)–Placer County sheriff'sdetectives arrested four men Wednesday and recovered a 3,000-poundGolden One CU ATM that had been stolen from Cal Expo hours before.A Global Positioning System device in the ATM allowed officials totrack the machine to the suspects' home, police said. The thievestook the machine to the Loomis home and used a sledgehammer, a prybar and an acetylene torch to get the machine open -- butcouldn’t get inside. The suspects apparently hot-wired aforklift to separate the ATM from a concrete mooring at the CalExpo and then lift it onto the truck. Police also found two stolenWave Runners and a stolen diesel generator at theproperty.
