SAN JOSE, Calif. - (11/16/05) -- VeriFone Holdings Inc., maker of theubiquitous point-of-sale processors, unveiled a new mobile handheldwireless payment application Tuesday. The WiFi-equipped VeriFone Vx670 can be used for almost any mobile payment application,including the growing 'pay at the table' application where mobilepayment processors are handed over to customers who can readilyswipe or insert their own cards and enter PINs. The new device useshigh-speed WiFi for mobile, with transactions often taking lessthan one second to complete, compared to the 12-to-14 seconds fordial transactions. It is also the first all-in-one portable paymentsystem to offer WPA-encrypted security, the benchmark for WiFisecurity.
