When Congress Returns, Four MoreCo-Sponsors For CURIA

WASHINGTON - (12/29/05) When Congress returns to session afterthe turn of the year it will do so with four more co-sponsors onH.R. 2317, the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (CURIA).The new co-sponsors bring the total number to 106. The most recentco-sponsors are Reps. Russ Carnahan (D-MO), John Olver (D-MA), JimGibbons (R-NV), and Dennis Kucinich (D-OH). The bill includes anumber of provisions credit unions are seeking, including a networth amendment that addresses a potential accounting problem formerging credit unions under a pending accounting industry rule, butdoesn’t include other measures credit unions want, such ascapital reform and an increase in member business loanlimits.
