Financial Education In New York

LATHAM, N.Y.-Frank Kerbein, director of education and training with the New York State league, was a presenter at "It's All About the Benjamin$," a train-the-trainer financial education program. Kerbein talked to educators, and others interested in helping promote financial literacy to today's young adults, about the New York Credit Union Foundation's focus on and support of programs that address the current crisis in youth financial literacy, including the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) training program, and Life-Smarts, an on-line high school financial and consumer education competition.

Twins Checking Now On Deck

ST. PAUL, Minn.-Affinity Plus FCU has added to its line-up a new Affinity Plus/Minnesota Twins Checking Account, which offers checks and a check card with the Twins logo and 10% discounts on purchases at Minnesota Twins Pro Shops when purchases are made using Minnesota Twins checks. The $685-million credit union is the financial institution sponsor of the baseball team.

Dupaco, Du Trac Are Recognized

DES MOINES, Iowa-Two Iowa credit unions have been recognized by the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) as top 25 community mortgage lenders in the 2001 FirstHome program. Dupaco Community Credit Union, ranked ninth, made 41 firsthome loans totaling $2,552,800. Du Trac Community Credit Union made 20 loans for $1,346,375 and was ranked 19th. Both credit unions are based in Dubuque.
