CUNA Elects Ensweiler Chairman

RENO, Nev.-The CUNA Board Wednesday elected Dick Ensweiler, president of the Texas CU League, as its new chairman, the first league president to serve in the role lected as vice chair was Juri Valdov, president of Northwest FCU, Herndon, Va.

The board also elected Don Larsen, president of Community CU, Tacoma, Wash., as its secretary; Allan McMorris, president of Oakland County CU, Waterford, Mich., as treasurer, and Tom Dorety, president of Suncoast Schools CU in Tampa, as its member at large nsweiler succeeds Barry Jolette, president of San Mateo CU, as CUNA chairman.

MADISON, Wis.-Entries are now being accepted for the 2004 Diamond Awards, recognizing the preeminent credit union marketing programs in the nation for 2003.

Sponsored by the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council, the Diamond Awards feature 30 categories of marketing strategies, ranging from direct mail to television to website marketing. Judges will evaluate entries based on five criteria: strategy, design and production, creative concept, copy and communication, and results ntry deadline for this year's awards is Jan. 16, 2004, with a Jan. 5 early bird discount available.

CUES: Diploma And A Promotion

MADISON, Wis.-CUES is reporting that 36% of the graduates from its CEO Institute have received a career promotion following their completion of the program, including an 11% increase in the number of presidents and CEOs among those sampled.

Since 1995, 209 CU execs have completed the three-year program, which includes sessions at the Wharton School, Cornell University, and the University of Virginia. The new research involved 93 Institute graduates and was conducted by Real World Research, Madison, Wis.

Credit CU Brand On Display

CUCAMONGA, Calif.-Credit unions will be making their first appearance at the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention and Exposition Jan. 31-Feb. 3, 2004, with a booth sponsored CU Direct in conjunction with a number of credit unions and Callahan & Associates.

The national credit union brand will be on display at for the first time at NADA's conference in Las Vegas with a booth built around the theme of "America's Credit Unions...90 Million Reasons Why!" The theme was initially developed at the Summit on Indirect Lending sponsored by CU Direct Corporation and Callahan & Associates.

The steering committee included Larry Biernacki, Joe Brancucci, Don Charron, Marge McNaught, Chris Oldag, Rick Schmidt, John Ruby, Tom Ryan, and Cindy Stout.
