Four More To Speak At GAC

WASHINGTON, D.C.-CUNA has confirmed four more members of Congress will address its Governmental Affairs Conference later this month. They are: Senate Banking Committee Ranking Minority Member Paul Sarbanes (D-MD); House Financial Services Committee Ranking Minority Member Barney Frank (D-MA); Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), who is co-author, H.R. 3579, the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act, and Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA.), co-author of H.R. 3579, along with landmark legislation, HR 1151.

Wauna FCU CEO Baggett Dies

CLATSKANIE, Ore.-Dave Baggett, CEO of Wauna FCU, has died. Mr. Baggett was well known in the credit union industry for the numerous awards he won for marketing and advertising campaigns early in his career at Anheuser-Busch Employees Credit Union in St Louis. Baggett is the only person to have won both the Marketer of the Year and Operations Professional of the Year from the Credit Union Executives Society. After ABECU, Baggett's career took him to University of Wisconsin CU in Madison, and SELCO CU in Eugene, Ore., before taking the CEO position at Wauna FCU in October 2002. Baggett also held an MBA in finance from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Bruce Mallory, Executive VP, has been named acting CEO. Donations in Dave Baggett's behalf can be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley, 1545 W 22nd, Eugene OR 97405. A memorial service will be held in St. Louis Missouri on Feb. 14 at 2:00 PM at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church.

CU Exec Assists At Super Bowl

HOUSTON-Jason Deitz, VP-marketing at First Educators Credit Union here, participated in activities during Super Bowl Week with a role in the "Super Bowl XXVIII-A Houston Salute." Proceeds from the event raised enough money to build two NFL Youth Centers. Deitz served as an Ambassador to Elvin Hayes, NBA Hall of Famer and former All-American at the University of Houston during the evening.

NAFCU Program Is Recognized

ARLINGTON, Va.-NAFCU's "Operation: Helping Hand" campaign was put on ASAE's honor roll in the first round of judging for its 2004 Associations Advance America Awards program. Operation Helping Hand has raised funds for the four service relief agencies: Army Emergency Relief, Air Force Aid Society, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance and Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
