Haynes Wins Scholarship

ATLANTA The African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) awarded its first Discovery Conference scholarship to Rita Haynes, CEO of Faith Community United Credit Union, Cleveland. The scholarship, to be presented annually, was donated by Discovery Conference host CUNA Mutual Group. It will cover Haynes' $950 registration fee for the 10th annual event scheduled for June 15-18, 2005, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Florida. For more info: www.cunamutual.com.

CU Honors Various Vocations

ABERDEEN, Md.-Aberdeen Proving Ground FCU has released three optional designs for its Visa credit cards that honor Harford County's dedicated vocations. A decoy duck design pays tribute to the local and time-honored tradition of decoy carving; the school book design recognizes its efforts in financial education, and a "patriotic eagle" pays tribute to the the area's strong military foundation.

Navy FCU Branch Wins Award

PARRIS ISLAND, S.C.-Navy FCU's Parris Island member service center has been named by the Department of the Navy as the "Best Credit Union of the Year" for 2003. Twenty-six of Navy Federal's member service centers were nominated for the award this year-a record breaking number of nominations for the credit union; last year 23 of its member service centers were nominated.

MUCU Named Place To Work

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo.-Midwest United Credit union has been selected as one of the best places to work in Kansas City by the Kansas City Business Journal. Companies were rated on work environment and culture, personal growth opportunities, people and management in general, and embracing new ideas and change. In addition to being featured in the publication, winners will also be honored at a reception.

Arkansas FCU Adds Trust Svcs.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark.-The $382-million Arkansas FCU is now offering trust services to members through an agreement with MEMBERS Trust Co. Following extensive training in trusts and estate planning, VP Mike Van Bokhoven has been given the title Trust Liaison Officer.
