Florida Relief Fund At $785K

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-The Florida CU League reported its Hurricane Relief Fund has now raised $785,794 to help victims of the four hurricanes that struck this state. To date, the FCUL, through its Foundation, has made 672 disbursements totaling $386,250. Broken down further, 470 of the disbursements were Phase 1 $500 cash grants totaling $235,000. The remainder are Phase II grants, which have no set total. Among the recent donors: CUES with a $2,500 donation.

Ark Fed Pays 3% Bonus Dividend

JACKSONVILLE, Ark.-Arkansas FCU said it will pay members a 3% bonus dividend effective for the 4th quarter of 2004. The bonus will boost the APY on members' share accounts for the quarter to 4%, and marks the eighth bonus dividend paid in the previous 11 years to members. The $382-million AFCU serves 58,000 people.

Dias Recognized By CUAO

PORTLAND, Ore.- Cliff Dias, CEO of Portland Teachers CU, has been named the 2004 recipient of the Credit Union Association of Oregon's prestigious Distinguished Service Award. Dias was recognized for having overseen asset growth to $1.9-billion from $791.7 million.

Rose To Retire From CO-OP

ONTARIO, Calif.-Robert Rose, who built the CO-OP Network into the largest credit union-owned electronic funds transfer network, has set his retirement for June 2005. Rose took over as president and CEO of the network in 1990 when there were more than two -dozen small regional networks. Today, the CO-OP is the largest cCU-owned network, serving 1,800 CUs in all 50 states.

Akron Teachers Now Towpath

AKRON, Ohio-Akron Teachers Credit Union has changed its name to Towpath Credit Union following a move to a community charter serving the cities of Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Fairlawn and the townships of Bath, Copley and Richfield. The credit union said the new name gives it a regional identity and reflects the history of Northeast Ohio and Akron and the Ohio & Erie canal.
