Electronic Filing With FinCen

WASHINGTON-Effecitve March 1, credit unions will be able to submit USA PATRIOT Act Section 314(a) filing to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) via a secure web-based system. Fincen has been piloting the program since Feb. 1. To register to participate in the online 314(a) filing program, visit www.fincen.gov.

'Access' Workshop At GAC

WASHINGTON-NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson will host an Access Across America Economic Empowerment workshop in conjunction with CUNA's GAC. The event is scheduled for Feb. 27, from 3-5 p.m. The agenda will focus on federal government partnerships. Representatives from the NCUA, Treasury, and the SBA will be on hand.

Online Registration For Discovery

MADISON, Wis.-Online registration is now open for CUNA Mutual Group's Discovery Conference 2005-"Experience the Power." The meeting is scheduled for Orlando, June 15-18 at the Marriott World Center. Attendees signing up before April 11 will receive a discounted registration rate of $800, with further discounts available when three or more attend from one credit union or organization. Rates increase to $950 after April 11.

Long-Time Board Member Dies

ELKHART, Ind.-Margaret Michiels, who served on the board of Michiana FCU for nearly 50 years, has died at 94. Ms. Michiels served on the board from 1956 through 1999, and was board president for nearly half of those years, retiring following Michiana FCU's merger with Bayer FCU in 1999. Bayer FCU made a $2,500 donation to the Indiana Credit Union Foundation in Ms. Michiels name.

Fahden To Speak At Nexus

MADISON, Wis.-Allen Fahden, marketing and creativity guru, corporate trainer, former stand-up comic and author of Is Half the World Half Crazy, will deliver the closing address for CUES Nexus Conference April 14-17, 2005 in San Diego.
