Baxter CU Honored For Caring

VERNON HILLS, Ill.-Baxter Credit Union is the only financial institution to make it onto The Center for Companies That Care's Third Annual Honor Roll list. Baxter was joined by a number of other firms including Grant Thornton, LLP; The Care of Trees; CHAN Healthcare Auditors; Convergint Technologies LLC; Delnor-Community Health System; FPL Group; Office Depot and others. Companies are chosen for "their deep commitment to elevating the quality of the work environment for their employees and the quality of life for people in the broader community as well as adhering to the 10 characteristics inherent to a 'Company That Cares,'" Baxter said.

VACORP Moves Into New HQ

YNCHBURG, Va.-VACORP Federal Credit Union has officially celebrated the grand opening of its new 10,000-square-foot building. Among those on hand for the celebration were Lynchburg Mayor Carl Hutcherson. "As we look back to 1976, Virginia League Corporate Federal Credit Union was originally chartered to provide liquidity to Virginia's credit unions. That is still what we're all about today," said Jim Hansen, president of VACORP Federal Credit Union.

The $1-billion VACORP FCU was organized by the Virginia Credit Union League in 1976, and in 1995 opened its field of membership to include credit unions in North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.

NCUA Liquidates Small CU

ELKINS, W.Va.- NCUA has liquidated Randolph County FCU here. NCUA said it has made the decision to liquidate Randolph County FCU and discontinue its operations after determining the credit union is insolvent and has no prospects of restoring viable operations. At the time of liquidation, the credit union had approximately $896,000 in assets.
