CUES Publishes Outreach Study

MADISON, Wis.-The first of two outreach program studies offered by the Credit Union Executives Society has been published. "Making A Difference: Credit Unions Reaching Out to Members of Modest Means" is now available to credit unions free of charge. The report, which was made possible through a grant from the Ford Foundation, includes case studies presented by CUES as they examined and evaluated successful outreach programs carried out by mainstream credit unions. The second report is scheduled for publication in 2006, will provide an outline of what happens as outreach programs develop from early in 2005 through 2006.

Skyline Featured On Card

GRANDVILLE, Mich.-The $70-million Rivertown Community FCU here said it has launched the first credit card "branded" with the Grand Rapids skyline. The Visa Platinum credit card features a twilight shot of the Grand Rapids skyline with a focus on the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, the Plaza Towers and the Grand River. The photo was taken by local photographer William Hebert.

"We wanted to give the community something that they could be proud to carry in their wallet," said Marketing Director Nathan Rogers. "Some large banks have offered cards that allow large cities to show off their skylines and we thought that West Michigan natives deserved something like that, too."

Central Bergen OK'd To Expand

HACKENSACK, N.J.-Central Bergen Federal Credit Union has received permission from the NCUA to convert to a community charter serving individuals who live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in Bergen and Passaic counties, and the CU is changing its name to Greater Alliance FCU to mark the change in charter. The CU said it plans to open a full-service branch in Paramus later year with additional expansion plans in the near future.
