Wegner Award Applications Sought

MADISON, Wis.-The National Credit Union Foundation is calling for nominations for the 18th Annual Herb Wegner Memorial Awards. The Herb Wegner Memorial Awards are the credit union movement's highest honor, recognizing individual, organizational and lifetime achievement by credit unionists dedicated to the NCUF's mission of promoting and improving consumer financial independence through credit unions. Chartway FCU Reaches $1 Billion

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.-Chartway FCU has hit the $1 billion in assets threshold. To mark the event, CEO Ronald Burniske served up hot dogs and burgers for more than 1,000 members and staff at a special celebration.

UFCU To Sponsor Appearance

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- University FCU here will be the title sponsor of the Dave Ramsey "Total Money Makeover Live" event. Ramsey, a popular radio talk show host, will be bringing his live event to Birmingham. Ramsey is a financial counselor who gives advice to the listeners that call his show based on his findings during his journey of being a millionaire by the age of 26 and then bankrupt because of excessive debt within two years. The event will be held at UAB's Bartow Arena.

Conn. Gov. Signs Two Bills

HARTFORD, Conn.-Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell has signed two bills into law this week that affect credit unions. House Bill 6833 allows credit unions to cash checks for and provide wire transfer services to nonmembers who are within their FOM. House Bill 6832 redefines field of membership.
