CMBDC Names Exec Committee

MADISON, Wis.-The CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council has named its exec committee. Mike Weber, VP- marketing/PR for Dupaco Community CU in Dubuque, Iowa, is chairman; Anne Upson-Legg, VP-marketing for Cabrillo CU in San Diego, vice chair, and Tim Draper, VP-marketing for Credit Union Central Falls in Central Falls, R.I., is secretary/treasurer. Other named members of the executive committee of the council are: Sandi Carangi, VP-marketing/business development for Erie Community CU in Erie, Penn., and Rachel Nynas, director of marketing and branding for Carolina Postal CU, in Charlotte, N.C.

Separately, Renee Dickson, the outgoing chair of CUNA's Marketing and Business Development Council and former product manager at Wings Financial FCU, Apple Valley, Minn., has joined Seattle-based Weber Marketing Group as the lead financial marketing consultant. Dickson will remain in Minnesota.

NASCUS Accredits Three States

ARLINGTON, Va.-NASCUS said that state regulators in Missouri, North Dakota and Texas have earned NASCUS re-accreditation. The three states are the first states to be re-accredited in 2006 following the re-accreditation of nine states in 2005.

Long-Time Volunteer, Lunsford, Dies

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.-Bill Lunsford, long-active as a volunteer with numberous CUs, has died. Mr. Lunsford was 77. After a career in the Navy, Mr. Lunsford worked in credit unions for 30 years as a board member with Jax Navy (now VyStar), Tyndall AFB FCU, Amarillo Pantex FCU and Florida CU. He is survived by his wife, Flossy.

Funds Flow Into Special Account

HOUSTON-The $180-million First Service CU here said it grabbed $10 million in deposits and added 100 new members with a limited time "First Premier Money Market Account" offer. Open for several weeks and using an Academy Awards theme, the product required a $5,000 minimum deposit, although it reported average balances were significantly higher.
