Wine Auction Raises $120K

SAN DIMAS, Calif.-California's first Annual Credit Unions for Kids Wine Auction raised more than $120,000 for eight children's hospitals in California. Held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Pasadena, the event drew 200 attendees from California, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. "Our goal for the auction was $100,000," says Tony Boutelle, event co-sponsor and CEO of Credit Union Direct Lending (CUDL) in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. "We were amazed once we did our preliminary totals and realized we had raised $120,000." Auctioneers were Diana Dykstra CEO of San Francisco Fire CU, and Sarah Canepa Bang, CEO of Financial Service Centers Cooperative, Inc.

MADISON, Wis.-The Credit Union Executives Society has introduced "Operation Outreach: Promote Your Good Works to Policymakers & the Press" available at www.cues.org/operationoutreach. It is free to members and nonmembers alike and includes tips to assist credit unions in gaining more press coverage, ideas for reaching elected officials and other policymakers, and successful efforts shared by CUES members, along with other useful links. "CUES wants to help credit unions tell the world about all the ways they support their members and communities-an issue that's especially vital in today's climate," said CUES Chair Rose Bartolomucci. NCUA Liquidates Tiny S.D. CU

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA has liquidated the $102,913 Yankton Employees FCU in Yankton, S.D. The credit union had just 77 members, all of whom have been made whole by the NCUSIF. The credit union was insolvent.

AmeriCU Expands Charter

ROME, N.Y.-AmeriCU Credit has expanded from a mixed employer charter to a community charter to serve Central New York, with three additional counties and designated areas within Oneida County, defined as underserved communities, added to its FOM. The credit union currently serves 100,000 members.
