OCCU Offers Commercial Loans
BATLLE CREEK, Mich.-Omni Community CU is now offering commercial loans up to $5 million to established businesses through its new commercial lending affiliate Commercial Alliance.
Commercial Alliance is a CUSO that works with credit unions throughout Michigan to provide members with cost-effective commercial lending alternatives. Among its products and services are construction and permanent loans for owners, developers or investors; industrial loans for machinery and equipment, as well as working capital lines of credit.
Club For Newborns Is Sweet
EAST LANSING, Mich.-The Michigan State University FCU has created the Lil' Sweet Pea Club for newborns and children through age 4 designed to form a "lifetime bond" with members from an early age. Since launching the program in December 2005, 680 Lil' Sweet Pea accounts have been opened through the middle of May.
Parents opening accounts for their children with a deposit of $50 or more receive a casting kit for the child's hand or footprint.
Low-Income Lending Honored
MADISON, Wis.-A low/modest means lending category has been added to this year's Credit Union Excellence in Lending Awards, designed to spotlight innovation in extending credit to the "unbanked." Nominations are now being accepted for the awards program, which is sponsored by the CUNA Lending Council and CUNA Mutual Group.
The low/modest means lending category is open to CUs of any asset size. Two consumer lending awards will be handed out, with a category for credit unions with less than $250 million in assets and a category for CU with assets of $250 million or greater. Two mortgage lending awards also will be offered following the same asset size categories.
Applications are due July 28. Winner swill be recognized at the CUNA Lending Council's annual meeting, Nov. 12-15 in Indian Wells, Calif.
