CDCUs Now Have BALANCE

NEW YORK CITY-The generosity of three credit unions will help bring financial counseling and education service, BALANCE to all members of the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions (NFCDCU) with assets of under $25 million. Other Federation member-CUs will also realize a significant discount.

Orange County Teachers FCU, Santa Ana, Calif., Suncoast Schools FCU, Tampa, Fla., and State Employees' CU, Raleigh, N.C. made special contributions to make the BALANCE financial counseling and education service available to the Federation's CDCU's. The three credit unions are among the Federation's Community Development Partners.

Winner Turns Car Over To Parents

Wall, N.J.-A member of First Financial FCU who won a new Honda Accord turned around and gave the vehicle to her parents as a way of thanking them for all they have done for her.

First Financial gave the car away as part of a sweepstakes open to new or existing members who opened a qualifying account. Deborah Stabile-Wisniewski told the CU that she was giving the car to her father, whose car broke down the week prior.

She said that her parents have always been there for her-watching her children while she works nights at the hospital and have never asked for a dime.

CU Wins Funds For Loan Program

ITHACA-The Empire State Development Agency presented Alternatives Federal Credit Union with funds to subsidize loans for women and minority businesses. These loans will assist women and minority borrowers who have a minimum of one year in business and are looking for assistance with continued growth and expansion.

Vermont Gets New BISHCA Head

MONTPELIER, Vt.-Paulette Thabault as been named commissioner of Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration (BISHCA) by Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas. Thabault, a former deputy commissioner in the department, took office last week. The agency regulates Vermont's state-chartered CUs.
