RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - (12/22/05) Bill Cheney, the well-knownpresident of Xerox FCU and a director of NAFCU, was named Wednesdayas the successor to Dave Chatfield as president of the Californiaand Nevada credit union leagues. Cheney has headed the ElSegundo-based credit union for the past eight years, branching itinto New York and Texas and building it from $325 million in assetsinto a $800 million institution. Over the past few years he hasdeveloped a national reputation as NAFCU director, appearing as thetrade groups representative before Congress and at theRepublican and Democratic national conventions and at PresidentBushs second inauguration. Chatfield plans to retire tohomes in Hawaii and Alaska on April 1, ending a 40-year career incredit unions that has included stints with CUNA Mutual,appointments on the NCUA Board and with the Alaska and Californialeagues.
