15-Year Keefe Bruyette Analyst Resigns

HARTFORD, Conn.— The bank analyst Joseph Duwan has left the New York investment firm Keefe, Bruyette & Woods Inc. and starts a new job today — executive vice president and director of research at Conning Corp., an investment management and research firm.

Mr. Duwan, 43, had been with Keefe Bruyette since about 1984 and resigned a week ago, said David Berry, director of research at that company. The analyst covered large-cap Midwest banks for Keefe Bruyette, including Firstar, KeyCorp, National City, Bank One, and Fifth Third.

“I was real surprised,” Mr. Berry said of Mr. Duwan’s departure.

Mr. Duwan was unavailable for comment.
