W. G. Jurgensen, executive vice president and chief financial officer of First Chicago Corp., Chicago, has been named head of the community banking group, effective Jan. 1.

Mr. Jurgensen will also continue as one of five members of First Chicago's senior policy committee. Before joining First Chicago, Mr. Jurgensen, 42, spent 17 years at Norwest Corp., Minneapolis, most recently as executive vice president for Norwest Bank Minnesota.

He is succeeding Jerry C. Bradshaw, who will become chairman of the community banking group and also will represent First Chicago on the board of the Illinois Bankers Association.

Among other duties, Mr. Bradshaw will help the bank in pursuing retail acquisitions.

He will also remain chairman of Gary-Wheaton Corp. and will reassume responsibility for that subsidiary following the early retirement of its current chief executive officer, Robert Hesterman, who is leaving for health reasons.

Also effective Jan. 1, Robert A. Rosholt, senior vice president and treasurer, will become chief financial officer. David P. Bolger, chief financial officer of American National Corp., Chicago, will become treasurer of First Chicago.
