3Q Loss a First for B of A Unit

Bank of America Corp. lost money in its credit card unit for the first time since its January 2006 purchase of MBNA Corp.

The Charlotte company's card services unit lost $373 million in the third quarter, compared with a profit of $1.04 billion a year earlier, B of A said in a regulatory filing Tuesday. The filing provided more details on third-quarter results, which B of A reported weeks ago.
