Albert L. Lord has been named vice chairman and chief executive of SLM Holding Corp., Sallie Mae's new private holding company.
The new board of directors also tapped 12-year Sallie Mae veteran J. Paul Carey to be executive vice president, finance and marketing, the company announced Wednesday. Mr. Carey is a former vice president of institutional finance; Mr. Lord was executive vice president and chief operating officer.
In addition, Mark G. Overend, Sallie Mae's former vice president and controller, was named chief financial officer.
Four other Sallie Mae veterans who were named to top management positions are:
Marianne M. Keler, general counsel;
Robert R. Levine, vice president, servicing;
Tracie P. MacMahon, vice president, systems and business development; and
Jane Trevisan, vice president of marketing and sales.
The company also announced that Sallie Mae executive vice presidents Timothy G. Greene, Lydia M. Marshall, and Denise B. McGlone were asked to resign. Lawrence A. Hough previously said he would resign as Sallie Mae's president and chief executive.
