PORTLAND, Ore. -- U.S. Bancorp this week announced an 8.9% introductory rate on its cobranded Visa credit card with U S West Inc.
After a six-month introductory period, the interest rate jumps to the prime rate plus 9.9 points for Visa Classic cards and the prime plus 8.9 points for Visa Gold cards, the Portland bank said.
The combination credit card and telephone calling card, introduced in May, is offered in 14 states west of the Mississippi.
Plan: A Million in Five Years
William F. Keenan, managing director of U S West credit card services in Phoenix, expects the fall initiative to boost the program toward a goal of nearly 250,000 active accounts by yearend and one million active accounts within five years.
Other features of the card, include 1% rebates on credit card purchases, 2% rebates on calling card calls, and no annual fee for U S West customers.
The promotion will last through November.
