A Tennessee bank changes its name.

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - Community Bank of Germantown changed its name to Community First Bank this month because it has grown beyond its Germantown roots in southwest Tennessee.

Founded in 1975, Community First now has 20,000 customers and $225 million of assets in Shelby County.

"Now that we've grown into other communities and are as active in those communities as we are in Germantown, we feel our name should reflect this," President Jake Farrell said.

Bank officials emphasized that the name change is not the result of a merger or change in ownership.
