Amcore Financial Mulls Sale of Branches

Dow Jones

ROCKFORD, Ill. --Amcore Financial Inc. said it is considering the sale of 10 branches as part of its strategy to "focus on high performing asset management and delivering tailored products to business customers in selected high-growth Midwestern markets."

In a press release Wednesday, Amcore said the branches, all in Illinois, represent a total of about $170 million in loans and other assets and $310 million in deposits.

The company said there is no guarantee of a sale of any of the branches. It said the branches would be sold only if Amcore can realize their full financial value.

Amcore has banking assets of $4.4 billion. It also has financial services operations.
