NEW YORK - American Express Co. has launched a special promotion through which customers can use its Blue card, which has a magnetic stripe and a chip, to buy concert tickets online.
Cardholders may buy tickets at Ticketmaster.com by using a smart card reader that plugs into their personal computer. Ticket information is stored on the chip and used for ticket pickup at select SFX Entertainment amphitheaters nationwide.
The theaters have special American Express offices equipped with chip card readers that confirm the order and print the tickets.
