The results are in for Bancography’s 2008 Brand Value Index. The survey “ranks brands by the premium they contribute each financial institution’s underlying tangible value,” says the consultant and software provider. The Top 10 bank brands in the $30-billion plus asset size are: Wells Fargo; U.S. Bank; The Northern Trust Company; Union Bank of California; PNC Bank; Manufacturers and traders Trust Co.; Comerica Bank; Branch Banking and Trust Co.; and JPMorgan Chase.

In the $2-$30-billion range the best brands stacked up this way: Woodforest National Bank; Westamerica Bank; City National Bank; City National Bank of West Virginia; Nevada State Bank; First Interstate Bank; S&T Bank; The Frost National Bank; Commerce Bank; and Amarillo National Bank.
