Annual net losses on securities backed by auto loans jumped in January in response to higher unemployment figures and near-record-low recovery rates on repossessed vehicles, Fitch Inc. said Friday.

"All consumer assets are under pressure, and auto loans are no exception," said John Bella, a managing director at Fitch.

Losses are expected to keep growing this year, he said.
