Bank Institute Picks Bank One, SunTrust ExecsFor Top Posts

The Bank Administration Institute in Chicago has elected Robert A. Rosholt, Bank One Corp. executive vice president and chief financial officer, chairman of its board of directors.

He succeeds Richard C. Hartnack, vice chairman of Union Bank of California's community banking group, who has completed his two-year term and remains on the BAI board.

Mr. Rosholt joined the board in 1997 and was its secretary and treasurer as well as chairman of its risk management committee. He became executive vice president and CFO of a Bank One predecessor company, First Chicago Corp., in 1993 after beginning his banking career at First Chicago in 1974.

The institute also elected John W. Spiegel, executive vice president and CFO of SunTrust Banks Inc., secretary and treasurer of the board and chairman of its risk management committee.

Mr. Spiegel has been involved with BAI's board since 1987 and was recently a director-at-large and chairman of the financial services steering committee. He joined SunTrust in 1966 and was its treasurer before taking his current posts in 1985.

The institute is an education and research organization that works to establish banking companies as the preeminent providers of financial services.
