Bank Julius Baer Hires Senior VP To Be Manager Of N.Y. Branch

Bank Julius Baer, based in Zurich, has strengthened the management of its New York branch.

James L. Schlagheck has joined the bank as senior vice president and will become branch manager effective Jan. 1.

Mr. Schlagheck comes to the bank after 18 years with American Express Bank. Most recently, Mr. Schlagheck was executive director, based in New York, with responsibility for product management, including 14 mutual funds. He had held key posts in subcontinent, Latin America, and Europe, which were senior management responsibilities for private banking in Switzerland.

Mr. Schlagheck takes over branch management at Bank Julius Baer/New York from David E. Bodner, who has been general manager since the branch opened in 1984.

Mr. Bodner will continue with the bank as executive vice president/North America until his planned retirement in 1997. He will concentrate his efforts on relationships with supervisory and regulatory bodies and marketing in the United States.

Rejoining the New York branch as senior vice president is Balz Eggunmann. As co-head of private banking, he will be a member of the branch management committee.
