Bank of the West acquires Citicorp branches.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Bank of the West said it completed the acquisition of 15 northern California branches from Citicorp's. thrift operation in the state.

The acquisitions, primarily outside of the San Francisco area, expand Bank of the West into the communities of Brentwood, Calistoga, Citrus Heights, Clearlake, Lodi, St. Helena, and Sonoma. All of the employees at the acquired branches were offered positions at Bank of the West.

The bank, owned by Banque Nationale de Paris of France, has made four acquisitions in four years, growing from 39 branches to 106, said Don McGrath, president.

Citibank is left with 95 branches in California, of which 61 are in the northern part of the state.
