Bankers Trust Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Bankers Trust New York Corp. has hired William G. McBride as managing director and head of the corporate communications group. He reports to Douglas B. Kidd, senior managing director of corporate affairs.

Mr. McBride was vice president of corporate communications at J.P. Morgan & Co.

Before that he had been international editor of Lipper Analytical Services Corp., overseeing international data operations.

Earlier, he served as financial editor for the International Herald Tribune in Paris, and on the national news desk of The Wall Street Journal.

Mellon Bank Corp., Pittsburgh, has elected George W. Johnstone to its board of directors and that of its principal unit, Mellon Bank. He will also serve on the regional board of the Mellon PSFS unit.

Mr. Johnstone, 58, is president and chief executive of American Water Works Co. and president of American Water Works Services Co., both based in Voorhees, N.J. Before joining American Water Works in 1966, he had been employed with a consulting engineering firm, and at the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
