Briefs: Deutsche Unit Hires Private Banking Chief

Deutsche Bank North America named a new private banking chief on Monday.

Kenneth F. Tarr has joined the German banking giant as chairman of Deutsche Bank Trust Co. and Deutsche Asset Management North America. Mr. Tarr succeeds Henry S. Ziegler, who has been named Deutsche Bank's senior trust and estate planning officer in New York, according to a bank spokeswoman.

Formerly a principal with the New York investment firm of Weiss, Peck & Greer, Mr. Tarr is now responsible for all of Deutsche Bank's investment management, trust company, and private client businesses in North and South America.

Launched three years ago, Deutsche Bank Trust Co. manages about $4.8 billion in assets. The unit recently registered a new mutual fund family, the Deutsche Family of Funds Inc., with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
