Briefs: Sanwa Hires Another Union Bank Exec

In a move to beef up its international activities, Sanwa Bank California has hired another Union Bank of California executive.

The bank announced last week that it hired William D. Snyder as vice president and manager of international finance. Mr. Snyder joins Henry Jurgens, who joined Sanwa less than a month ago as senior vice president and head of the bank's international division.

Mr. Snyder, 51, speaks Spanish and Portuguese fluently. He began his banking career at Union Bank in 1972, where he managed trade finance and international correspondent banking. He is also a director of the Foreign Trade Association of Southern California and a member of the Greater Los Angeles World Trade Center, the U.S. Council on International Banking, and the Japan America Society. Sanwa Bank California, the U.S. retail and middle-market banking unit of Japan's Sanwa Bank, has more than $8 billion of assets and 100 branches across the state.
