California Bancshares buying failed S&L.

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- California Bancshares said its Community First National Bank unit has assumed the deposits of Amador Valley Savings and Loan, Pleasanton, Calif.

Amador Valley was placed into receivership on Sept. 10 by the Office of Thrift Supervision.

California Bancshares said that as of Sept. 10, Amador Valley had about $41.2 million in 6,900 deposit accounts. Community First is also purchasing about $3.1 million of the failed institution's cash, securities, and share loans, and has options to purchase $36.4 million in loans.
