Capital Briefs: FDIC Halts Auctions Pending Investigation

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has suspended asset sales by auction after identifying "irregularities involving expenses."

The FDIC's inspector general is investigating and the agency is conducting a formal review of all auction-related procedures and internal controls used by the Resolution Trust Corp., which ran the auction program until Dec. 31, when the agency was dissolved.
