Capital Briefs: Fed Chief to Address House Banking July 22

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan is scheduled to give his semiannual report on monetary policy July 22 before the House Banking Committee.

A date has not yet been set for Mr. Greenspan to testify before the Senate Banking Committee. The 1978 Humphrey-Hawkins law requires the Fed chairman to testify twice yearly before both committees.

To accommodate Mr. Greenspan's appearance, House Banking's financial institutions subcommittee has rescheduled its hearings on consumer financial privacy for July 20 and 21.
