The Independent Bankers Association of America and a coalition of 12 community groups have filed letters asking the Federal Reserve Board to reconsider its approval of the Citicorp-Travelers Group merger.

The IBAA also asked the Fed to require the companies to wait until Oct. 23 to complete their merger to give the IBAA time to appeal the Fed's order in court.

William J. Sweet Jr., a partner in the Washington office of the Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom law firm who represents Travelers, said he does not expect the Fed to grant the requests.
