The Department of Labor has filed an administrative complaint against MBNA Corp., alleging that the credit card issuer's marketing subsidiary showed a pattern of discrimination in hiring.

The department said Tuesday that MBNA Marketing Systems of Newark, Del, has discriminated against minority workers hired as account representatives and telemarketers.

MBNA strongly disputed the allegations. "The facts show that MBNA hired minorities at twice the rate of available qualified minorities in the recruiting area," the company said in a statement.
