Capital One Financial has launched a new online payroll and tax-filing system that will be aimed at small and independent business owners—a potential user base of 20 million.
Back to Business Payroll, which is available for online enrollment, will calculate paychecks, W-2s, electronic tax payments, and tax filings, according to Capital One, which says the Web solution will run a payroll in less than 10 minutes. Also included: free direct deposits and check printing.
Using the Web for tackling small-business bookkeeping services is also been in the works for Intuit, makers of the desktop Quicken line of software. Intuit has plans to launch a small-business version of its FinanceWorks online personal financial management platform this month.
