Card briefs: 1st Tennessee Picks Visa For Point of Sale Brand

SAN FRANCISCO - Visa's Interlink Network said it will be the exclusive on-line point of sale mark for First Tennessee Bank's Money Belt Network.

The agreement will allow the 220 financial institutions belonging to the network to extend point of sale capabilities to 500,000 cardholders across Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Interlink said it will run a marketing campaign this month in Tennessee to promote the benefits of on-line debit transactions, featuring radio and newspaper advertising.

Separately, Visa International said it has extended its Interlink point of sale debit program into Taiwan.

Interlink will be implemented in Taiwan by the nationwide Financial Information Service Centre, the system linking the country's banks.

The center has also recently implemented the Visa/Plus automated teller machine network.
